Africa-Press – Angola. Former combatants and veterans of the homeland of the municipality of Namacunde, southern Cunene province, were, this Monday, called to join the process of re-registration of proof of life, taking place from 6 to 26 March.

The appeal was made by the director of the Provincial Office for Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland in Cunene, Eugénio Ndamenaposy, during a meeting with the pensioners, which aimed to convey some guidelines on the re-registration process.

The official clarified that the re-registration process and, at the same time, proof of life, aims to confirm the pensioners’ individual data with a view to assessing their existence, to guarantee better control and supervision of public expenditure.

According to the director, it is essential that former combatants adhere to the process, because only in this way will the government be able to grant subsidies and other support to people with the requirements established by law.

He said that only with proof of life will pensioners be able to avoid exclusion, which could cause difficulties in the future regarding the return of the pension.

To this end, he said it was necessary to prepare all the documentation required for the said process, highlighting the need to replicate the information to the most remote locations.

He recalled that many pensioners did not re-register for various reasons, as a result, the government is continuing this process of ex-combatants who did their best to free the country.

93 pensioners are being monitored in the municipality of Namacunde, of which 27 are former combatants, 25 are war disabled, 24 are orphans of former combatants, 10 are descendants of former combatants and seven are widows.
