Africa-Press – Angola. Four national citizens were arrested Friday, in the province of Cabinda, by members of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), for illegal storage of large quantities of fuel for smuggling purposes to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

According to the press release from the Directorate of Institutional Communication and Press of the Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), the fuel was seized in the Povo Grande and São Pedro neighborhoods inside two clandestine warehouses.

In total, according to the document, thirty-seven thousand and 825 liters of various fuel were found, packed in plastic tanks and drums of 25,30,200 and 5000 liters each.

During the operation it was possible to seize two vehicles used by smugglers to transport fuel.

Those involved can be sentenced to 3 to 10 years in prison, in accordance with Law No. 5/24 of April, in force, which oversees the fight against smuggling of petroleum products.
