Africa-Press – Angola. Four thousand 192 women joined, this Saturday, in the province of Huambo, the ranks of the OMA, in an event guided by the general secretary of the women’s organization of the MPLA party, Joana Tomás.
The recruitment of new military personnel, between 18 and 30 years of age, took place from 2022 to the present date, within the framework of the rejuvenation program of the Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA) at country level.
On the occasion, the secretary general of the OMA, Joana Tomás, informed that the act marks the end of the process that began in the base structures, taking into account the guidance of the National Committee, leaving the organization’s Congress, which foresees the delivery of cards only after this step.
He added that the process, witnessed by everyone, demonstrates once again the adherence of women to the association and their acceptance in the communities, especially in the youth segment, thus allowing them to have access and know, from a very early age, the statutes of the party, the duties of organizing and defending the rights of the female class wherever they are called.
She recalled that the MPLA’s women’s organization, in addition to its political action, is focused on empowering women, facing everyday challenges and the social and economic development of the country.
To this end, he said that OMA has basic centers and literacy rooms, focused on women’s training and home care, with a view to preserving families.
She called on women to take greater care of their families, through love and mutual respect, with emphasis on their husbands, care for their children and the home, regardless of their political or social position.
At the event, which marked the end of the presentation program for the “Kudima” project in the province of Huambo, which began on Thursday, Joana Tomás reiterated its importance in boosting family farming, through rural women, judging by its impact in local production.
He said that the roadmap, which aims to respond to the concerns of the Angolan Government, by responding to the call of the President of the Republic and leader of the MPLA, João Lourenço, with regard to the diversification of the national economy, is in its II edition, which includes the provinces of Benguela, Bié, Cuando Cubango and Huambo.
He added that the first edition of the program, which began last February and lasted one year, covered the northern region of the country (Bengo, Cuanza-Norte, Cuanza-Sul, Malanje and Uige) by assisting 10 cooperatives, made up of 60 to 100 women, who benefited from contributions and various agricultural means.
He reiterated OMA’s engagement in advocacy to resolve community problems, with a direct impact on the lives of women and families, with emphasis on improving access to basic social services, fertilizers and improving communication routes.
He also indicated the fight against fatherhood, abandonment of fatherhood and family destruction, among other evils that affect society, as well as other challenges facing the organization.
At the same time, a health fair was held in the commune of Calima, municipality of Huambo, where nearly five thousand citizens were assisted, in various specialties, in an initiative by the OMA.
In the province of Huambo, Kudima, was marked by the distribution of various materials, including fertilizers, hoes, machetes, grinding, household utensils to agricultural cooperatives, in addition to visits to the plantation fields and the ombala of the Kingdom of Huambo.
The “Kudima” project, an expression that in the national language Kimbundu, means (Cultivate or Work) aims to encourage family farming and highlight women’s work in the countryside, in response to the appeal of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in relation to incentives of local production.
