Africa-Press – Angola. The French Ambassador to Angola, Sophie Aubert, reaffirmed her country’s commitment to boosting cultural cooperation with Angola, within the framework of strengthening the historical ties between the two peoples and countries.
The diplomat was speaking at the conference “Images and Body of a City,” held on Thursday (05), as part of the 450th anniversary of Luanda, celebrated on Jan 25th.
She reaffirmed her role as a cultural partner and the commitment to cooperation that values Angolan knowledge and encourages interdisciplinary dialogue.
Regarding Luanda’s anniversary, Sophie Aubert said it was an opportunity to open a space for listening and dialogue about the city’s current identity.
The attendees were invited to explore the city from different perspectives, ranging from academic and urban arts to architecture, literature, and cinema.
The conference featured speakers Abreu Paxe, Leopoldina Fialho da Costa, Jesualdo Muvuma, and Yola Balanga, who addressed, among other topics, memories, identity and urban space, linguistic and literary origins, and the evolution of the city of Luanda from an architectural and urban point of view.
Angola and France celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties, as relations were established in Feb 1976, with cooperation in the cultural, scientific, and technical fields governed by an agreement signed in 1982 and regularly reinforced through joint commissions.
