Africa-Press – Angola. One million, 152 thousand and 829 liters of fuel, which were destined for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were seized, in the last ten months, by the National Police in the province of Zaire, due to attempted smuggling.

These are 468,808 liters of gasoline, 328,851 liters of diesel and 355,170 liters of illuminating oil, seized at various border posts in the province of Zaire with the DRC.

The numbers were presented on Wednesday, in Mbanza Kongo, by Zaire’s provincial commander of the National Police, Commissioner Firmino Uyamba, when he spoke on the topic of “public security and citizenship”, in a meeting that served to collect contributions for the Strategic Plan of Integral Youth Development.

He reported that, during the reporting period, 353 attempts to smuggle fuel into the neighboring country were aborted, which resulted in the arrest of 123 suspected smugglers.

The meeting, which brought together students and members of civil society, was promoted by the Provincial Office of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports.

Four of the six municipalities in the province of Zaire share a border with the DRC, namely Mbanza Kongo, Soyo, Nóqui and Cuimba.
