Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of the province of Huambo, Lotti Nolika, stated this Thursday that the population is proud and expresses their joy for the gains of peace, as the greatest asset of unity “of the disaffected brothers”.

The minister was speaking at the central event of the celebrations of the Day of Peace and National Reconciliation, presided over by the Minister of State and Head of the Military House of the President of the Republic, Francisco Pereira Furtado, representing the Head of State, João Lourenço.

At the event, held under the motto “April 4th, together for the country’s inclusive growth”, he said that the nearly three million inhabitants of this province in the Central Highlands of Angola are proud of peace, the second greatest achievement of the Angolan people, after National Independence, proclaimed on November 11, 1975.

Lotti Nolika said that it was on a day like today, but in 2002, that the hope of the Angolan people was reborn, as the new chapter definitively opened, so that, united and in peace, Angolans could continue to write this historic milestone, which brought stability and progress to the country.

He highlighted that the central event takes place in a young and fertile province with approximately three million happy, humble, hard-working, dedicated, welcoming and hospitable inhabitants, whose facts speak for themselves.

He highlighted that the Central Plateau, a land with agricultural potential and that is developing every day, has left behind the rubble and the imminent danger of landmines, by loudly proclaiming “yes to the free movement of people and goods”, in addition to to raise the banner of peace and the permanent commitment to national reconciliation.

The minister also highlighted that peace constitutes the path that leads to sustainable development and common well-being.

Therefore, he reiterated the commitment of the Government of the province of Huambo to preserving peace and promoting social development,

Meanwhile, society considered, in a message read during the event, the preservation of peace as everyone’s responsibility and not an exclusive responsibility of the Executive and the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), with each one having to play their role in building a peaceful country and prosperous.
