Africa-Press – Angola. The library of the municipal administration of Gambos, Huíla province, was reinforced with 398 books, offered by the Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University (UMN), on the occasion of national educators’ day (22 November).

These are works of a scientific nature linked to the areas of human, social and legal sciences.

With this donation, the collection increases to more than 1,200, as revealed by the municipal administrator of Gambos, Francisco Barros Leonardo.

Speaking at the reception, the manager considered the relevance of the offer, as there will be greater fluidity in scientific research work, without having to travel to Lubango to do so.

According to him, the works, along with the virtual ones available, are important for life, especially in the municipality that this year has the first center for higher education.

In turn, UMN’s vice-rector for academic affairs, Francisco Cambanda, stated that the initiative to distribute the books is part of the university extension process, with a view to integrating students and the community in science matters.

He made it known that the books are acquired through support from national academies and foreign universities.

The municipality of Gambos is 154 kilometers south of Lubango, capital of Huíla.
