Africa-Press – Angola. The German Head of State, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, on Thursday visited the Animal Vaccine Production Center project in Angolan central Huambo province where he learned about its construction progress.
Accompanied by the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and the governor of the province of Huambo, Pereira Alfredo, the German statesman received detailed explanations about the scope of the project, the phases already completed and the ongoing investment, valued at 125, 221,858 euros, financed by German banks.
Upon completion, scheduled for 2026, the center will have an annual production capacity of 30.6 million vaccines for mammals, 150.6 million vaccines for birds and 9.384 million antigens intended for the preparation of diagnostic reagents.
The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Isaac dos Anjos, and other Angolan government entities, also attended the visit.
President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who is on a working visit of a few hours to Huambo, also went to the premises of the non-governmental organization “The HALO Trust”, dedicated to demining work, where he had contact with the equipment for the demining process.
On site, a simulation was carried out on demining, such as mapping the space, marking using a red disc, isolation, investigation (excavation), evaluation (carried out by the team supervisor) and destruction.
The visit program also includes a tour to the “Princess Diana” Center for Medicine and Physical Rehabilitation this morning.
