Africa-Press – Angola. The leadership of the National Football Championship “Girabola2022-23” may alternate again if 1.o de Agosto beat Desportivo da Lunda Sul this Sunday (16:00), in a match for the 19th round, to be played at stadium 11 from November.
The possibility is due to the postponement of the match between the 1st ranked Petro de Luanda (38 pts) against Dragão do Uíge (15th with 5 pts), due to the participation of the “tricolors” in the African Champions League.
Petro will face on Saturday, in Brazzaville, land borrowed from AS Vita Club de Kinshansa, from RD Congo, for the second day (group A) of the continental competition, in the first challenge between the contenders in the CAF competitions.
However, to return to the top of the ranking, the “red and black”, second placed with 35 points, will have to overcome the formation of Lunda Sul (12th with 16 pts) to total the same 38 points as the current leader, but would benefit of the advantage in the coefficient of goals scored conceded.
Should the victory materialize, it will be the second time that the RI20 team has reached the top of the competition with the same points as arch-rival Petro de Luanda, after registering in the 17th round, when each team had 35 points.
The fight for the third position also continues. If Interclube (3rd with 31 pts) wins on Saturday (15:30) Isaac de Benguela (14th with 9 pts) will distance himself from direct rival Wiliete de Benguela (4th with 30) who is off, due to the calendar.
The police play at the 22 de Junho stadium, as visitors, with the Benguela squad, by agreement between the two squads.
