Africa-Press – Angola. The Government of Angola authorized the provision of the equivalent in kwanzas of 8,215,831.60 (eight million, two hundred and fifteen thousand, eight hundred and thirty-one US dollars and sixty cents) for the rehabilitation of the Tundavala National Stadium , in the province of Huíla.
According to the current Official Gazette of November 6, 534.029.54 (five hundred and thirty-four thousand and twenty-nine US dollars and fifty-four cents) has also been approved for the acquisition of inspection services for the undertaking.
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, is delegated powers, among others, to verify the validity and legality of all acts carried out within the scope of the aforementioned procedure, including the conclusion and signing of contracts.
According to the document that has been citing, the Ministry of Finance is authorized to register projects in the 2023 Public Investment Program, as well as guarantee the financial resources necessary for their implementation.
Built as part of the “CAN`2010” African Championship that Angola hosted, the Tundavala National Stadium, located in the province of Huíla, was closed in January this year by the African Football Confederation (CAF).
On the occasion, inspectors from the governing body of continental football recommended, among others, improvements to changing rooms, electronic billboards, changing lockers, improvements to the press area and the pitch, the latter of which has already been completed.
The laying of a track for athletics was also placed as a condition without which the property would remain closed for national and international matches.
However, after some improvements, the property was authorized to temporarily host official international matches, namely for African club competitions, qualification for the 2024 African Championship and the 2026 World Cup.
The Tundavala National Stadium, in Lubango, has a capacity for 20,000 seated spectators.
