Government Calls for Speed in Rehabilitation of Welwitschia Mirabilis

Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Namibe province, Archer Mangueira, requested this Friday, in Moçâmedes, greater speed in the rehabilitation of the Welwitschia Mirabilis pavilion, the venue for the Afrobasket 2025 series C and D games.

The African Nations Championship takes place from the 12th to the 24th of this month in Luanda and Namibe.

The information was released to the press at the end of the host governor’s inspection visit to the property, accompanied by the director of the Provincial Youth and Sports Office, Baptista Matuca.

The official stated that, according to the contractors’ assurances, the infrastructure will be handed over to the provincial government in less than eight days, which will then hand it over to the event’s organizing committee.

Archer Mangueira said that little remains to be done, citing, for example, the improvement of the flooring, while other equipment is already operational, such as the sound, lighting, and water system.

At the “Hélder Neto” support pavilion, which will be used for national team training, the director of the Provincial Youth and Sports Office, Baptista Matuca, stated that it is almost complete, with only improvement works remaining around the pavilion and the waiting for the tables and synthetic floor.
