The Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Technologies, Alé Fernandes, challenged Angolan businessmen today, in the municipality of Catumbela, to take advantage of the potential and advantages of the Lobito Corridor, which includes the Benguela Railway and Porto from Lobito.
The minister was speaking in Benguela province, regarding the 2nd edition of the Business and Connectivity Forum of the Media Nova Group, which brings together 127 entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs and national investors, including representatives of 44 companies.
Alé Fernandes considers the business forum an excellent opportunity for businessmen to better understand what the Lobito Corridor is and how to take advantage of its potential, to strengthen partnerships and encourage trade between them.
According to the official, the motto of the event is an important platform for the Angolan economy, the Lobito Corridor, and takes place at a time when various actions, projects and programs have been implemented to accelerate the diversification of the national economy.
The challenge, as I said, is to improve and reinforce the performance of the economy, in order to expand and facilitate the integration of the Republic of Angola in the region, as well as making the country a safe destination for attracting investments.
He referred that the recent holding of ANGOTIC-2023, after three years of stoppage as a result of Covid-19, constitutes a clear example of actions taken by the Government of Angola, in order to support and stimulate the dynamism, diversification, modernization and efficiency of the economy .
Therefore, the official highlighted the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to facilitate connectivity between institutions, both local and foreign.
Free Trade Zone
On the other hand, he spoke of the African Continental Free Trade Area, founded on March 21, 2018, an important platform capable of helping to lift millions of citizens of African countries out of extreme poverty.
In this way, Alé Fernandes believes that the operation of the Continental Free Trade Area will contribute to reducing discrepancies between all countries on the African continent.
He highlighted the impact of the Business and Connectivity Forum in promoting commercial exchanges, experiences and exploring innovative and profitable business opportunities in the national and continental market, through dialogue between various Angolan entrepreneurs and producers.
“The programming of this event presents itself as a unique opportunity to better publicize, address, learn about and identify the opportunities and advantages around the Lobito Corridor”, he noted.
The Business and Connectivity Forum (Business and Networking) was designed from the perspective of exchanging ideas on intra-African businesses, to generate facilities within the projected African Free Trade Area.
The meeting is discussing the best ways to explore the challenges and opportunities of the profitable business world in the national and continental market.
Businessmen and investors from the provinces of Benguela, Bié, Cabinda, Malanje, Moxico, Namibe, Huambo, Huíla and Luanda debate in panels on the “Lobito Corridor – Advantages and commercial exploration”, “Fishing industry and potentialities”, “Attracting investments ”, “Lobito refinery” and “Blue economy and tourism”.
