Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for Sports, Carlos Almeida, said on Friday in Luanda that the Government “has always paid great attention” to issues related to families.

Carlos Almeida, who was speaking at an act alluding to the 15th of May, International Family Day, which is celebrated today, recalled the message transmitted to families by João Lourenço, in his inauguration speech as President of the Republic, in September 2017.

“President João Lourenço stated that, in addition to the need to eradicate hunger and poverty, through an integrated program, we will fight for empowerment and support for the most disadvantaged families”.

Carlos Almeida, who spoke at the act on behalf of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ana Paula Sacramento Neto, defended that the International Family Day should be used as an opportunity to promote, even more, awareness of issues related to families, increasing, thus, knowledge about the social, economic and demographic processes that affect families.

The Secretary of State for Sports mentioned the National Program for the Rescue of Moral and Civic Values, created by the Government to “improve the social, behavioral environment and public safety”.

“The actions of this multisectoral program have a direct impact on the social well-being of families”, added Carlos Almeida, recalling that the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as a member of the Interministerial Commission to promote the National Program for the Rescue of Moral and Civic Values, contributes with actions that contribute to the moralization of society, families and young people.
