Africa-Press – Angola. The road section that connects the municipalities of Mbanza Kongo and Cuimba, covering a length of 62 kilometers, will begin to be rehabilitated next year, announced Thursday, the governor of the province of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho.
According to the governor, who was speaking at the traditional end-of-year greeting ceremony, in 2024, the road that connects Mbanza Kongo to the commune of Madimba will also be rehabilitated, a distance of 75 kilometers.
It should be noted that these two road projects, under the responsibility of the Executive’s central structures, were successively assigned in recent years, but without their effective rehabilitation, due to alleged financial difficulties.
Adriano Mendes de Carvalho also referred to the new secondary and tertiary roads to be leveled and completed in 2024, with emphasis on the Cuimba/Serra de Canda and Nzeto/Kindege sections.
Actions in the areas of health, education, drinking water and electricity are also included in the Executive’s public investment program for 2024 in Zaire, according to Adriano Mendes de Carvalho.
He also spoke about the completion of other social projects included in the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) and other programs, which should be inaugurated next year.
Regarding environmental protection, the governor said that in 2024 environmental education campaigns for the region’s population will be reinforced, which will focus on children from various general education schools in the province’s six municipalities.
As a summary of the year that is about to end, the governor highlighted the entry into operation of projects in the fields of natural gas and fishing, in the municipality of Soyo.
On the sporting side, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho congratulated himself on the title of second division football champion won by Clube Desportivo São Salvador do Kongo (CDSSK) and the team’s subsequent rise to the first division (Girabola2023-24).
The governor of Zaire reinforced his commitment to continue promoting dialogue with the different forces in the region, in order to identify solutions to the problems that still afflict the region’s inhabitants in the most varied areas.
Participating in the end-of-year greeting ceremony were members of the Provincial Government, deputies to the National Assembly, magistrates, heads of different provincial offices, municipal administrators, religious and traditional entities, representatives of the defense and public order forces, among other guests.
