The lack of schools, didactic material, staff, residences for teachers, media libraries, water reservoirs, electricity, security, improvement of access roads and funds for the maintenance of educational institutions are among the concerns raised in Caxito, to the governor of Bengo, Maria Nelumba, by the directors of the schools.
These concerns were presented to the governor during a working meeting that she held with those responsible for the education sector of the six municipalities that make up the province, to find out about the main problems that afflict the institution.
At the meeting, the managers also referred to the lack of chalk, erasers and hygienic material.
At the end of the visit, the official clarified that the government will continue to work towards resolving some problems, stressing that they will not be solved all at once, but according to priorities and depending on the needs and availability of financial resources in the budget. .
He asked teachers, school managers and other stakeholders in the sector for more professionalism and commitment to improving the quality of teaching and learning in the province.
The municipal administrations, within the scope of the PIIM, requested the construction of nurseries or children’s centers so that children, before being inserted in pre-school, have some knowledge, a spirit of learning and permanence in the classrooms.
The director of the Provincial Office for Education, Manuel Fernando, informed that the visit aimed to hear and present the main issues related to school management and the improvement of working conditions for employees in the sector.
In Bengo, the education sector controls a total of 286 public schools and 5,816 employees, including teaching and administrative staff.
