Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Cuanza Norte, Pedro Makita Armando Júlia, reaffirmed this Thursday the department’s commitment to strengthening dialogue with the population, with a view to promoting shared and closer governance.

The official, who was speaking during a meeting with the Consultation Council for Social Concertation of Cazengo (municipality headquarters of the province), mentioned that his strategies include permanent contact with the population of the neighbourhoods, towns and villages of the province, in order to better know the problems that afflict them in order to adopt strategies to solve them.

He expressed his commitment to the development of the province, relying on the contribution of all its citizens, despite the scarce resources available, due to the current “difficult” context of the economy of the country and the world.

Pedro Makita Júlia, who was speaking in the presence of deputies from the MPLA parliamentary group, on a working visit to Cuanza Norte, informed that the province foresees, for the five-year period 2022-2027, the execution of 800 projects of socio-economic impact, 400 of which local, which should consume a budget of 57 billion Kwanzas.

Despite the delays in making resources available, the province has carried out several works with a social impact, with emphasis on the new water system that should guarantee the supply of precious liquid to more than 28 thousand inhabitants, construction of social housing, schools, health centres, rehabilitation of roads, sports spaces and leisure areas, support for agriculture, among other actions.

He appealed for the understanding of the citizens in view of the delays registered in the execution of some works, resulting from the current difficult context of the national economy, but guaranteed that the government will continue to promote interaction meetings, aiming to enlighten the citizens.

The government, he declared, will also bet on attracting private investment, given the potential that the province has, above all, in the field of agriculture, to encourage local development and promote employment for young people.

Citizens present at the meeting appealed for greater government action to conclude the paralyzed works, reinforce the fight against juvenile delinquency and vandalism of public goods, along with the need to increase the distribution of water and electricity in rural communities.

Deputy João Diogo Gaspar, who coordinates the parliamentary commission, which works in the province, appealed to citizens in Cazengo to trust the executive’s promises, aimed at improving the living conditions of citizens, despite the current difficult context of the national economy.

He referred that the concerns presented at the meeting will be forwarded to the central government for a solution, especially with regard to the release of funds for the continuity of some works that have been very paralyzed.

The activity took place at the Instituto Técnico de Saúde (ITS) of Ndalatando, brought together MPLA deputies from the national circle on a working visit to the province, members of the government and municipal administration of Cazengo, traditional authorities, students and representatives of various civil society organizations.
