Governor reiterates cooperation with churches in resolving community problems

Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Bié, Pereira Alfredo, reiterated, this Sunday, in the municipality of Cuemba, the government’s commitment to cooperating with churches in resolving community problems.

The governor was speaking at the Catholic Church’s thanksgiving mass, as part of his three-day working visit to this municipality, which began on Friday.

Pereira Alfredo, who has now returned to Cuito, the capital of Bienna, transmitted messages of hope, envisioning a promising future for Cuemba, in particular, and for Bié, in general, having appealed, however, for everyone’s engagement in preserving the assets public.

Accompanied by members of his department, the governor launched a challenge to the faithful: “While the Government fills the holes in the roads, churches must continue to fill the holes in the minds”.

During the journey to this region, which is 164 kilometers from Cuito, the governor inaugurated a medium polytechnic institute and a community center, built with funds from the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).

The Instituto Médio Politécnico, with 12 classrooms, called “Calvino Francisco Gingongo”, has the capacity to accommodate more than a thousand students.

It also includes three laboratories, a meeting room, a computer room, school managers’ offices, among other compartments.

The community center, named “Bento Chilingueno”, has several services, including a library, restaurant, beauty salon, computer room and cutting and sewing workshop.

Social enterprises cost the State coffers 262 million 64 thousand 172 kwanzas 91 cents.

Pereira Alfredo also delivered kits for the empowerment of women and young people, agricultural inputs and titles for directed self-construction.

The governor of Bié also held a meeting with the community, in which he heard the main concerns of the local population.
