Africa-Press – Angola. On the 13th and 14th of this month, the provincial governor of Luanda, Manuel Homem, will confirm the socio-economic status of the municipality of Quissama during a field trip, according to a press release made available.
According to the work agenda, on Monday, the 13th, the Governor will meet with the Social Consultation Council, carry out technical visits to the works of the Integrated Intervention Plan in Municipalities (PIIM) and hold a courtesy meeting with religious entities.
On Tuesday, the 14th, the Luanda Provincial Government (GPL) delegation will travel to Demba Chio commune (headquarters), passing through the districts of CCT, Mucolo Mienga, Salinas, Culemba and Camona.
The Municipality of Quissama has as administrator, Elisabete de Fátima da Fonseca Tavares de Matos Rafael, who has held the position since November 2022.
The press knows that some communes in Quissama are several kilometers away from the municipal headquarters and, for many years, their inhabitants have been clamoring for the improvement of communication routes, which makes it difficult for them to circulate and transport products to the places where they are sold.
Other difficulties that most of the communities in that district go through have to do with the lack of potable water and electricity.
Meanwhile, several works with a social impact, within the scope of the PIIM, are in progress, some in a terminal phase, such as schools and health centers.
The Municipality of Quissama was transferred, pursuant to Law No. 29/11, of September 1, 2011, from the province of Bengo to the province of Luanda, following the territorial administrative reform of the two provinces.
It has an estimated population of 45,262 inhabitants (2014 census), a territorial area of 12,046 square kilometers, thus being the least populous among the municipalities in the province of Luanda.
It is limited to the north by the municipalities of Viana and Icolo and Bengo, to the east by the municipalities of Cambambe (Province of Cuanza Norte), Libolo and Quibala (Province of Cuanza Sul), to the south by the municipalities of Quilenda and Porto Amboim (Cuanza Sul), and to the west by the Atlantic Ocean.
In addition to the commune of Muxima, it also comprises the communes of Demba Chio, Quixinge, Munbondo and Cabo Ledo. Part of the municipality is occupied by the Quissama National Park.
