Nineteen Angolan scholarship holders enrolled at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels in ten different Hungarian universities were received, on Tuesday, by the Angolan Diplomatic Mission in Budapest, within the scope of the Memorandum of Educational Exchange between both countries and which includes the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarships.

At the welcome meeting for the new scholarship holders, who will join the other 115 students who attend higher education in Hungary through the same programme, the ambassador of the Republic of Angola in that country, José Filipe, referred to the newly arrived university students as “true survivors”, in allusion to the “strict” academic selection criteria that culminated in the final entrance exams, all defined exclusively by the universities.

“Our appeal, as Embassy, ​​is to dignify the name of the country, for your commitment, exemplary conduct, in such a way that Hungarians, and others, get to know Angola from your way of being and being”, he exhorted. .

To the 19 scholarship holders, who will be in ten different universities and a higher institute, José Filipe recalled that “the new phase of academic life must, in addition to dedication and discipline, reflect Angolan culture and good customs, so that students can be real ” ambassadors” of Angola”.

The students arrived on Sunday, 11, accompanied by two staff from INAGBE, and will attend the academic year 2022-2023 in the courses of Medicine, Agronomy, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, professional piloting, Architecture and Economics, in ten different universities and a higher institute.

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme, which Angola has benefited from since 2014 and was renewed bilaterally in 2020, is fully sponsored by the Government of Hungary. This is an initiative aimed at developing countries and aims to show the academic potential of Hungarian universities to the world.
