Africa-Press – Angola. The production of black granite in the province of Huíla, in 2021, increased by 19.56 percent compared to the previous year, reaching a volume of 115,836.29 cubic meters.
Segundo dados fornecidos ao Jornal de Angola pelo director do Gabinete Provincial de Desenvolvimento Económico Integrado (GPDEI), Manuel Machado Quilende, em 2020 haviam sido produzidos 93.173. 74 metros cúbicos.
Face aos dados apurados, disse o director, a receita do subsector de rochas ornamentais da província da Huíla, em 2021, fixou-se em 550 milhões de kwanzas, canalizados para a Conta Única do Tesouro (CUT). O aumento foi de 18, 36 por cento, tendo em conta os 449 milhões de kwanzas em 2020.
Manuel Miguel Quilende referiu, por outro lado, que, em 2021, a província da Huíla exportou para os países da Europa e América, 67.997 metros cúbicos de granito, contra 62.563 do ano anterior.
Despite the current context, characterized by the economic crisis and Covid-19, there was an increase in exports, with emphasis on the entry into the export route of two more countries, namely the United Arab Emirates and France, which effectively existing bilateral agreements between governments.
However, for some countries, the current context of the pandemic marked a certain retraction, but in others, such as the case of Angola, especially, particularly the province of Huíla, the current reality, the moment served as a business opportunity.
From Lubango, granite was and continues to be exported via the ports of Namibe and Lobito, in Benguela, via rail.
“One of the largest producers of ornamental stones, which is Zimbabwe, kept its borders closed. And, canceling exports to the main markets, where Angola has also been an exporter, a great opportunity has opened up for companies that exploit ornamental stones. , mostly in the municipalities of Chibia and Gambos”, admitted the official.
