Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda revalidated, on Friday, in the country’s capital, the women’s handball Super Cup, by beating 1° de Agosto, 26-21, at the Cidadela pavilion.
The “oil” team, led by coach Luís Chaves, won the 15th trophy for its gallery, 11 more, in relation to the four achieved by the “military” arch-rival, led by coach José Chuma, in a universe of 19 editions.
In the match, Vilma Nenganga (Petro), with seven goals, was the top scorer. On the 1° de Agosto side, Bernadeth Belo, with five, comes next.
Petro dominated from the start, with a five-goal lead in the first six minutes (9-4). Even without the scoreboard clock (damaged), the match continued, with 1o de Agosto trying to reduce the score, but losing at half-time, by 9-12.
Once the timing of the scoreboard was reestablished, in the complementary stage, the players entered faster, at a time when the “tricolores” were trying to expand, despite the constant physical clashes registered in the defense of the “red and black” team.
After 22 minutes, 1° de Agosto, already without Natália Bernardo, due to injury, found herself out of breath to stop the opponent, Petro’s team took advantage of August’s nervousness, in the final stretch, to extend the score until the 60th minute, with 26-21.
