Africa-Press – Angola. A factory called Dulceria Nacional, linked to the production of various types of sweets located in the Viana Development Pole, in Luanda, was inaugurated this Thursday by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
Valued at over US$45 million, the new factory has an installed capacity to produce 7,000 tons of cookies and 3,500 tons of chocolates per year, and has generated more than 500 jobs for young people.
According to the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Victor Fernandes, who was speaking at the opening ceremony, these initiatives will encourage and engage different actors to train, promote and create incentives for primary sectors to supply raw materials to industrial units that are being installed throughout the national territory.
“In the triennium 2021-2022, Angola spent the equivalent of 143 million US dollars on the import of approximately 258,000 tons of these food items”, said Victor Fernandes.
With the inauguration of this candy production factory, the minister revealed, the country will save around US$37 million in all units in this segment.
