Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, received this Saturday, in an audience, the president of the African Football Confederation (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, with whom he discussed the situation of the sport in Angola.

Upon leaving the meeting, the head of CAF told the press that he liked it, particularly the message from PR that Angola wants to be the next African CAN champion.

He said that, as leader of all 54 African countries, Angola’s message is good, but supports all messages coming from other Heads of State and other African nations.

He said he expressed to João Lourenço his gratitude for the support provided to Angolan and African football, highlighting the importance of continuing this commitment, passion and cooperation.

He highlighted Angola’s extraordinary performance at the level of Côte d’Ivoire’s CAN, which, in his opinion, produced some of the best football players in Africa and believes in the evolution of the youngest footballers.

He added that, with joint work and dedication, he could produce many better players for the development of football in Africa.

He appealed to the private sector and entrepreneurs to support Angolan football, investing in the sport.

He advocated that it should not be expected that Governments alone can do everything, or that the leadership of associations and football federations do everything alone.

He thanked the President and the Minister of Youth and Sports for their patience, commitment and continued dedication to football.

In Angola since Friday, South African Patrice Motsepe is the seventh president of CAF, an institution with 67 years of existence.
