Africa-Press – Angola. The literary work “Conheça Ombala-Ya-Naluheke”, written by King Mário Satipamba, was launched this Monday, in the village of Xangongo, Cunene province.

The work portrays the origin and development of the history of the Ovambadja, their place in Angolan historiography and will serve as support for historians, researchers, anthropologists, academics, among others.

With 51 pages, the work initially has 57 copies and is being sold at a price of 8 thousand and 500 kwanzas.

The sovereign said that the book highlights the social, cultural and historical importance of these people to awaken, in the new generation, interest in the history of the Ovambadja and the province in general.

When presenting the work, the promoter of the “Write to Flower” project, Leonardo Tuyenikumwe, said that the author describes the origin, settlement and division of the Ovambadja peoples, as well as the construction of the kingdoms of Ombala-Yo-Mungo and Ombala- Ya-Naluheke.

According to the promoter, the work portrays the figures who contributed to the development of the personalities and sovereignty of the Ovambadja kingdom, the loss of its sovereignty and current challenges.

The kingdom of Ombala-Ya-Naluheke began to be populated in the 15th century, probably when people came from the great lakes, with the aim of seeking better living conditions.

Mário Satipamba is the twentieth king of Ombala-Ya-Naluheque, enthroned in 2009.
