Africa-Press – Angola. The Industry sector identified agro-industry and mining activity as areas of investment in the two municipalities that will host the new industrial hubs in the province of Huíla, depending on the productive potential of each region.
These are spaces identified in the municipalities of Matala and Jamba, currently managed by the Institute of Industrial Development and Technological Innovation of Angola (IDIIA), responsible for implementing the Executive’s policy in the field of fostering and promoting hubs and industrial activity.. It is supervised by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
The first area is in the town of Muquequete, on the outskirts of the municipality of Matala and has 170 hectares and the second in the commune of Dongo, in Jamba, with 400 hectares, which are awaiting financing to install basic infrastructure to attract private investment.
When talking about the subject Friday, in this city, the head of the Industry department in Huíla, Mário Cláudio said that for Matala, the idea is to boost agro-industry based on cereal production, bringing together other surrounding municipalities, such as Chicomba, Quipungo, among others.
He mentioned that the agro-industry could be food and non-food, with the first being able to include juices, jams, milk, meat and its derivatives, among others, while the second, non-food component, would be directed to soap, clothes, shoes and others.
In Jamba, according to Mário Cláudio, due to its specificity, the focus is on an industrial hub in Minas Gerais and the Moçâmedes Railway, which would help in the transport process to other parts of the country.
He stated that these areas have already received visits from IDIIA technicians, who carried out a new topography and assessed whether the spaces were actually granted for this purpose by the provincial government and the municipal administrations involved.
“Now we are looking to infrastructure the space that already has energy and water nearby, lacking the improvement of access with earthworks or asphalt and then base ships and other minimum services so that every investor who arrives in Huíla can find comfort in the locations ”, he expressed.
The two municipalities stand out in the province’s economic balance, with Matala being the second busiest, after Lubango, with 355 thousand 956 inhabitants and Jamba has the largest iron reserves in the country, in addition to gold deposits.
The Provincial Office for Integrated Economic Development of Huíla currently controls 463 industrial units, 353 of which are functional, 36 are paralyzed and 74 are in the implementation phase.
