Africa-Press – Angola. The city of Lubango hosts a multi-sectoral fair, as part of the Meeting of Ministers of Employment and Labor of the Development Community of Southern African Countries (SADC) and Social Partners, where some local potential is exposed, so that visitors can get in touch.
The also called “Women’s Fair”, is at the Nossa Senhora do Monte Tourist and Sports Complex, where more than 40 vendors display local art, food, souvenirs and other locally produced goods, as a way of finding new business contacts.
Exhibitors lamented the poor publicity and the choice of location, which may be the reason for the few visits, as Ema Nolato said, participating in the area of restaurants, clothing and accessories, noting that it sells “not much”, but complained about poor adherence.
“I hope sales increase. I received visits from South Africa, Mozambique and nationally, we hope more will come”, she said.
For homemade seasoning entrepreneur, Sófia Hongombo, sales are timid, but she hopes that as the weekend approaches, things will change.
In turn, the president of the “Akwetu Weya” agricultural cooperative, José Manuel, said that he displays tubers, various vegetables, fruits and birds.
Craftsman José Kuvingua, who has been doing the activity since 2018, said he hoped for a visit from foreigners participating in the meeting of ministers, as in three days, only 10 purchased items at his stand.
The fair, which has more than 40 exhibitors, out of a hundred planned, aims to promote Huíla’s potential in various areas of production, from tourism, arts and crafts, agriculture and small rural processing industries, highlighting entrepreneurial women, in function of the month dedicated to gender.
The event, which runs until Thursday, is promoted by the Provincial Office for Economic and Integrated Development and has as partners the Provincial Office of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, the provincial service of the National Institute for Support to Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises, the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Huíla and others.
