At the beginning of August, at least five thousand citizens from 17 provinces of the country begin to travel to Lubango, Huíla province, to represent the 164 municipalities at the Feira dos Municípios e Cidades de Angola, which will take place from the 10th to the 13th of that month.
The estimate is advanced by government authorities, based on confirmations and reservations made in hotels and similar local units, in what is the 4th Edition of the event, which joins the 121st celebration of the secular Festivities of Nossa Senhora do Monte.
The director of the Social Communication Office of Huíla, Luís Garrido, said that 96 percent of the space awarded for the exhibition, with seven thousand square meters, at the Nossa Senhora do Monte stadium, is already filled with reservations from the municipalities. , ministerial departments, public and private companies.
In terms of accommodation, Luís Garrido stressed that Huíla will directly accommodate more than five thousand people, who, in addition to Lubango, will be accommodated in municipalities close to the capital city, namely Humpata and Chibia.
With regard to the offer of services, the source reinforced that the hotels and similar units are fully booked for the period of the fair, which coincides with the festivities of Nossa Senhora do Monte.
“The entire catering network is committed to the more than five thousand souls who will be at the event. We are prepared and alert operators to improve their services, in order to have a positive response from people who request services, he continued.
He stressed that depending on the number of visitors that Huíla will receive, to meet the demand, there is a third alternative for accommodation, camping at the Tourist Complex of Nossa Senhora do Monte, where hot and cold water is available, as well as security.
He highlighted that holding the fair will generate occasional jobs, awaken service providers in the province, such as beauty salons, boutiques, tailors, graphics, among others, an inclusive event, where everyone will be called to provide service.
Luís Garrido reinforced that the security is guaranteed by the defense and security forces, by the health bodies both in the city and in the periphery, including the National Institute of Medical Emergencies (INEMA), services are assured by the Government of Huíla.
The FMCA had a three-year interregnum due to covid-19 and this year it returns under the motto “Life is made in the municipalities”, in a realization of the Ministry of Territorial Administration.
The event aims to show what is being done in the country and the perspectives of the municipalities in the social and economic aspects. During the event, the Forum of Municipalities and Cities of Angola will take place, on the 11th, an event in which issues related to local administration will be discussed.
The province of Huíla with 79 thousand and 22 km2 has 14 municipalities, namely Lubango (capital), Chibia, Gambos, Humpata, Cacula, Quilengues, Caluquembe, Caconda, Chipindo, Chicomba, Quipungo, Matala, Cuvango and Jamba.
