Africa-Press – Angola. Twenty-eight 28 million 800 thousand eggs were produced by poultry farmers in Huíla in the last two years, an impact caused by the distribution of 350 thousand chicks, by the Ministry of Agriculture, through the Cooperativa de Avicultores.

Families produce 600,000 eggs every month, at the rate of 20,000 per day, which represents a quantitative evolution in production, especially in the family poultry farming process, according to the president of the Huíla Poultry Cooperative, Miguel Kalandula .

Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of a national training in poultry farming, in which nine provinces of the country participate, he considered that the poultry distribution project made it possible to improve the diet of many families, lower the price of eggs (from 3600 to 2800 ), as well as generating new jobs.

Without referring to previous production, Kalandula underlined that production is still below market needs, set at two million eggs/day, but believes that with an increase in laying hens in the coming days, due to the continuity of training and distribution of chicks , a production that responds to this desideratum is expected in the next five years.

He also said that the focus is on reducing the price of chicken and eggs, noting that this is an important impulse from the Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, which makes the matrices available, to the program to combat hunger and reduce poverty”, he said. .

He also pointed out as challenges, the continuous encouragement to youth and other interested parties to engage in the project and, with that, increase production and lower the price of the egg from 150 to 50 kz.

It was in this perspective, according to the source, that the Association of Poultry Farmers carried out the 10th edition of the training action on poultry for national farmers, in order to be able to respond to the demand, because the demand is great, so that in a short time it can provide knowledge to broaden the poultry activity in the regions where they live.

The 152 participants from the provinces of Luanda, Namibe, Cunene, Benguela, Huambo, Bié, Cuanza Sul, Luanda Malanje and Lunda Sul and Norte will, for three days, update themes around entrepreneurship, animal health, animal nutrition and financial education.

After technical training, each member will receive one hundred chicks to promote family poultry farming, despite being a negligible number, it will contribute to the entrepreneurial branch.
