IGAE Prioritizes Ethics and Good Governance for 2026

Africa-Press – Angola. The Inspector General of State Administration (IGAE), João Manuel Francisco “João Pinto”, stated, Saturday, that the year 2025 was marked by challenges in the public administration sector, with emphasis on the reinforcement of ethics, civility and responsibility of public servants.

João Pinto, who made these statements to journalists on the sidelines of the ceremony presenting end-of-year greetings to the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, said he expects continued reforms and improved administrative control for 2026.

In reviewing the year, the official highlighted that IGAE maintained as a priority the education of public servants to respect ethics and assume the consequences of their actions, considering that many of the constraints in public administration are linked to issues of civility and vices acquired over time.

“Control and administration are permanent processes. We had a year of adapting legislation, improving working conditions and reinforcing internal and external actions”, he stated.

He added that, although the indicators recorded are positive, “there is still a need to continue doing better”.

The Inspector General also highlighted the importance of society’s participation, through responsible and non-malicious reporting, as a way of reinforcing the feeling of justice and promoting good governance.

Regarding the prospects, João Pinto was confident in a better year, arguing that the consolidation of ongoing reforms and the collective commitment to the public interest are essential for strengthening administrative morale and governance in Angola.

The Head of State, João Lourenço, flanked by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, received, at the Protocol Complex of the Presidency of the Republic, in Luanda, the traditional end-of-year greetings from political figures and representatives of civil society.

The ceremony, which is part of the Head of State’s institutional calendar, brought together government officials, party leaders, authorities from defense and security bodies, as well as personalities from different sectors of Angolan society, in a moment of celebration and assessment of the year that is ending.
