Africa-Press – Angola. A Memorandum of Understanding between the Geographic and Cadastral Institute of Angola (IGCA) and the GEOCUBA business group of Cuba was signed on Friday (26), in Havana, marking the beginning of cooperation in common areas between the two entities.
According to a press release from the Angolan embassy in Cuba, on the Angolan side, the document was signed by the IGCA’s General Director, Conceição Luís Cristóvão, and Victor Urgel, head of the GEOCUBA business group of Cuba.
The ceremony was held within the framework of the 11th International Land Survey Convention 2025, which took place from Sept 22 to 27 and was attended by the Angolan Ambassador to Cuba, Carlos Cruz de Lemos Sardinha Dias.
The parties will cooperate in the areas of Geodesy, Cartography, Cadastre, and Geographic Sciences.
The Agrimensura is an event organized by the National Union of Architects and Construction Engineers of Cuiabá (UNAICC), in partnership with the Society of Geosciences and Chemistry and its Technical Committees for Geodesy, Topography, Photogrammetry, Cartography, Cadastre, and Assessments.
The Angolan delegation met with several local entities, including the President of the National Institute of Territorial Planning and Urbanism of Cuba, Major General Raúl Omar Acosta Gregorich, from whom they received detailed explanations on the management of territorial and urban planning on this Caribbean island.
The delegation also learned about the strategic axes of Cuba’s National Economic and Social Development Plan (PANDES 2030), which aims at human development, equity and social justice, as well as the progress and challenges in completing the National Registry, a tool that the Cuban Government considers essential for governance and development.
