Africa-Press – Angola. The National Demining Institute (INAD) began, this Tuesday, the cleaning of the area in the province of Huambo where, last Saturday, a device exploded that caused the death of a child and serious injuries to two others.

The incident occurred in the village of Cacoco, in the Kilometer 25 sector, municipality of Caála.

At this time, according to the spokesperson for the National Police in Caála, Evimbi Gomes, the site was closed for survey work and subsequent demining, in order to make the area free of explosive devices and safe for agricultural and livestock production.

With this initiative, he said, without specifying the perimeter of the prohibited area, the aim is to prevent other accidents with unexploded explosives.

In turn, the deputy administrator for the Social, Political and Communities Area of ​​the municipality of Caála, Felismina Nambonja, announced, soon, the carrying out of an intense awareness campaign and distribution of pamphlets on the risks of mines and other devices explosives in primary and second cycle schools.

The fatal victim of the engine explosion was 10 years old and the injured were eight and nine years old, and are receiving medical treatment in the intensive care section of the General Hospital of Huambo.
