Africa-Press – Angola. More than one million coffee seedlings will be produced, by the end of this year, in the province of Uíge, by the local National Coffee Institute (INCA), to promote the production of this crop in the region.

In 2023, the National Coffee Institute (INCA) in Uíge produced 553 thousand 783 coffee seedlings.

This Thursday, the head of the INCA department in Uíge, Miguel Camoxi, said that, to double production, they will increase the production of coffee seeds and the delivery of seedling conservation bags to producers.

He said that the seedlings will be produced at the local experimental station, farms and in technical brigades, installed in the municipalities of Uíge, Negage, Quitexe, Mucaba, Púri and Bungo.

He added that the coffee seedlings will be distributed to 4,651 local producers, to promote the production of the product in the region.

With the improvement in the price of coffee in national and international markets, coffee growers in the province of Uíge are investing in boosting the production of the product.

He clarified that, this year, producers estimate a harvest valued at 6,063 tons of coffee, surpassing the 4,006 tons of the 2023 harvest and 3,300 tons of the year 2022.
