Africa-Press – Angola. The Chair of the Angola-Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AngoNesia), Cláudio Camenha, informed on Thursday (05), in Luanda, the interest of Indonesian businesspeople in investing in large-scale rice and palm oil production in Angola.

Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the 2nd business forum of the two countries, which took place under the motto “Connecting Indonesian and Angolan companies: Partnership for sustainable growth,” he guaranteed that by the end of the first half of the current year, one of the businessmen will arrive in the country to realize the intention to invest in the agriculture and health sectors.

According to the Head of AngoNesia, between 2020 and 2024, rice and palm oil stand out as the most imported products by Angola, while Indonesia imports oil from Angola.

“We are preparing for the arrival of two business groups from Indonesia to assess the real potential of Angola and to make a commitment to the implementation of the projects under evaluation,” he added.

In this perspective, Cláudio Camenha said that meetings have already been held with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and other meetings are being prepared, which will include representatives of Indonesian companies.

According to the official, companies from that Asian country are attracted by the current social, political and economic stability in Angola, along with the favorable conditions for the development of agriculture.

He stressed that, in addition to large-scale rice production, the aim of Indonesian entrepreneurs is to work on the entire rice value chain, and for this reason, the project intends to integrate the processing industry.

Alongside these intentions, there is also a project for the production of animal feed, for which the possibility of installing a manufacturing unit in the country is being studied.

Claudio Camenha also mentioned that in the last three years, in a partnership with ANGoNesia, Indonesian entrepreneurs linked to the production of glues, all kinds of industries, sweets, biscuits, yogurts and a tire manufacturing company visited the country.

Regarding the objectives of the chamber, Cláudio Camenha said that the intention is an integrated business platform, connecting Angolan micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to existing business opportunities or those that come from Indonesia.

He stressed that the intention is to take advantage of the experience and investments of Indonesian companies in the fields of agriculture, tourism, renewable energy and micro-industries.

In the official’s view, Indonesia, a rich and self-sufficient country, has solid experience in industrial development, industrial transformation and growth driven by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), a fact that positions this country as an important ally to contribute to the diversification process of Angola.
