Africa-Press – Angola. Inflation between September and October 2023 registered a variation of 2.15%, according to the Quick Information Sheet (FIR) of the National Consumer Price Index (IPCN) released by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

According to INE, comparing monthly variations there is an acceleration of 0.05%, whilst, in year-on-year terms, there is an acceleration in the current variation of 1.37%.

According to the document, the provinces that recorded the lowest price variation were Moxico with 1.25%, Benguela with 1.30% and Malanje with 1.34%.

INE points out that, among the provinces that recorded the greatest variation in prices, are Luanda with 2.99%, Huíla with 1.79% and Cabinda with 1.73%.

Health was the one that recorded the biggest price increase, with a variation of 2.66%, highlighting also the price increases seen in the Transport classes with 2.54%, Food and non-alcoholic drinks with 2.42% and Clothing and footwear with 2.31%.

The Food and non-alcoholic beverages category contributed the most to the increase in the general price level with 1.42%, during the month of September, followed by the Miscellaneous goods and services classes with 0.16%, Transport with 0. 1%, Health with 0.10%.

According to INE, the remaining classes had contributions of less than 0.10%.

According to the document, the general level of the Consumer Price Index in the province of Luanda registered a variation of 2.99% from September to October 2023.

The available data indicate that, comparing monthly variations (September to October 2023), there is an acceleration of 0.05% while, in year-on-year terms (September 2022 to September 2023), there is an acceleration in the rate of change current 2.19%.

The Transport class was the one that recorded the biggest price increase with 5.22%. Also noteworthy are the price increases seen in the Health classes with 3.95%, Clothing and footwear with 3.40% and Food and non-alcoholic drinks with 3.29%.

In this class, the year-on-year variation was 20.40%, registering an increase of 4.32 percentage points in relation to that observed in the same period of the previous year.

Comparing the current year-on-year variation (October 2023) with that recorded in the previous month (September 2023) there is an acceleration of 2.57%.

The Food and non-alcoholic beverages class contributed the most to the increase in the general price level in Luanda with 2.00%, followed by Transport with 0.25%, Miscellaneous goods and services with 0.24% and Health with 0. .13%, with the remaining classes having contributions lower than 0.13%.
