Africa-Press – Angola. Someone at a meeting held on the 18th floor of the Sonangol headquarters building recommended that I write to the four corners of Angola that he is a true patriot!
It’s easy to say that I’m a patriot in the midst of luxury, in that enormous room, with state-of-the-art furniture, and contemplating a beautiful sea view, where we have the company’s resources at our disposal to fulfill our dreams.
I say dream, because the real needs of the population are often left aside in order to meet dreams.
And when someone who understands a bit about the subject questions a program, as a citizen and taxpayer, there is no respect for the user, and the age difference and formalities of treatment do not matter, because in every meeting I was called son by someone who is my age group.
I don’t know if it was intentional, because the son is obliged to do what the father says, or if it was just out of habit, because many still cannot distinguish when they are at home or in an institution, where they should use formalities and rules of address.
Now let’s see what a patriot is?
A: A patriot is someone who has a sense of love and loyalty to his or her country, accompanied by a desire to promote its well-being and progress. This is manifested through respect for national culture and symbols, as well as a commitment to the development and defense of the nation.
I have said that many who have everything at their disposal dare to use various terms, without knowing their real meanings, just because they think it is a beautiful word.
Why would a person ask someone to tell the four corners of Angola that he or she is a patriot?
Has the fever of receiving medals for contributions made to the nation already infected the young people of my generation?
Now the merit is by recommendation and not by recognition?!
The answer is up to the reader.
