Africa-Press – Angola. At least six billion dollars will be invested, by the end of this year, by the international Canadian group Ivanhoe, for diamond exploration, in three areas of the country, said, this Thursday, in Luanda, the company’s president, Marna Cloete.
According to the president of the group, who was speaking on the sidelines of the second International Conference and Exhibition on the Mining Sector that takes place from the 23rd to the 24th of this month, Angola is a copper potential that has the same seismological elements similar to the third largest copper reserve in the world, which is the DRC.
He explained that his group is engaged in exploring the aforementioned mine over a period of three years.
To this end, he said that the first step to be taken by the group will be the opening of an office in Angola to then carry out geological studies and subsequently move into the exploration area.
According to Marna Coethe, Angola, Zambia and DRC are part of the same geological formation, highlighting that copper is one of the fundamental metals for the energy transition.
He added that the profits from exploration will reach the companies and communities where the minerals will be explored and contribute to the employment of young people.
Participating in the second edition of the Angola International Mining Conference and Exhibition (AMC) under the theme “Mineral Resources: Development, Sustainability and Challenges, representatives from seven countries, a list of 60 speakers who will share knowledge, providing information on current and future trends from the mining industry and close to 600 participants.
Topics such as “Angola’s Vision for the Sustainable Development of Mineral Resources”, a session that will reveal Angola’s stance in relation to the development of mineral resources and its dedication to revitalizing the mining sector, with the aim of promoting stability and transparency to instill confidence in international investors will be addressed.
Topics such as the “Current state of mining in Angola” will also be debated, which will feature views from the co-President and Director of Lipari Diamond Mines Ltd, Luiz Bizzi; and the general manager of Minbos Resources and HM Granitos, Asareh Monsoori.
Investors and stakeholders in Angola’s mining industry will participate in a series of diverse mining sessions to discuss strategic development projects, partnerships and investment opportunities in Angola that are driving innovation and sustainable practices in the mining industry.
