IX MIREMPET Advisory Council recommends rigor in PDN and PDS actions

Africa-Press – Angola. Participants at the IX Consultative Council of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas (MIREMPET) recommended the need for strict compliance with the actions contained in the National Development Plan (PDN) and Sustainable Development Plan (PDS) 2023-2027.

The recommendation is contained in the final communiqué from the meeting, held from the 23rd to the 24th of this month, in the city of Cuito, province of Bié.

It follows the in-depth approach to essential and current topics in the Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas sector, debated in a plenary session divided into informative panels and technical sessions on the development of the value chain.

In the view of the participants, it is essential to execute the actions contained in the PDN and PDS 2023-2027, with rigor and within the estimated deadlines, in order to guarantee the achievement of the objectives recommended for the development of the sector, essential to become increasingly , the country’s economy is robust.

Participants were also treated to the presentation of projects by operating companies in the sector, which reiterated, on the occasion, the contribution of the oil sector to the diversification of the national economy and sustainable development of the country, including the main ongoing actions and perspectives.

Upon closing, the Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, José Alexandre Barroso, gave a positive assessment of the council, as it allowed the presentation of the actions developed in the previous and current mandate, as well as envisaging others for the future.

Furthermore, he said that it allowed the presentation of business opportunities, and therefore drew the attention of businesspeople and entrepreneurs, with emphasis on the private sector, in order to respond to them.

The Consultative Council, which brought together more than 300 delegates and took place under the motto “Fostering the value chain of mineral resources, oil and gas for economic diversification and sustainable development”, was preceded by the holding, on the first day, of the IX methodological meeting of the MIREMPET.

The event, guided by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, and witnessed by the governor of the province of Bié, Pereira Alfredo, analyzed matters relating to the procedures for granting mining rights and exporting mineral resources and the process of transferring competencies, as well as presenting the mining registry and the current status of the implementation of mining projects in the province of Bié.

The conclave also served to listen to the concerns of the Provincial Economic and Integrated Development Offices.

The Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas is the auxiliary Ministerial Department of the Holder of Executive Power, responsible for formulating, conducting, executing, controlling and monitoring the Executive’s policy relating to geological and mineral activities, oil, gas and biofuels.

Its actions include prospecting, exploration, development and production of minerals, crude oil and gas, refining, petrochemicals, storage, distribution and marketing of mineral and petroleum products, as well as the production and marketing of biofuels, without prejudice to the protection of environment.
