Japan: PR expresses interest in Japanese financing lines

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, expressed this Monday in Tokyo, Japan, the interest of the Angolan Executive to work with the Japanese authorities in structuring the lines of financing.

Speaking at the opening of the Japan-Angola Business Forum, João Lourenço argued that financial institutions in Japan have favorable financing terms and conditions, with low interest rates and sufficiently long repayment periods.

“The Angolan Government is very interested in working with the Japanese authorities in structuring lines of financing”, said the Angolan statesman in his speech to businessmen from various sectors in Japan, considered the third largest economy in the world.

For the Angolan statesman, funding with a gender characteristic will support the effort to diversify the national economy with regard to the expansion and modernization of the country’s infrastructure and, also, to boost the private business sector.

He noted that the Japanese people and the Angolan people share several similar characteristics, such as the resilience to overcome great obstacles.

João Lourenço recalled that Japan, an island country in the Pacific Ocean, overcame the harmful consequences of a devastating war through courage and capacity, by rising from the ashes and building one of the most solid and modern economies in the world.

Angola, recalled João Lourenço, has lived through many years of armed conflict and its people have also demonstrated the resilience to overcome the negative shock that war brings to nations.

“It is for this reason that Angola and Japan are in solidarity with all the peace solutions that can be found for the various conflicts that are taking place today in different parts of the world.

Russia/Ukraine conflict

In this regard, the Angolan President lamented the case of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which puts world peace and security at risk.

“The world needs development and sustainability and nations that cooperate in this sense. I am sure that the cooperative relationship between Angola and Japan represents well this model of stable relationship and focused on socio-economic development”, she expressed.

Angola-Japan cooperation

Angola and Japan intend to increase cooperation in the political, economic and cultural domains, especially in the process of industrialization and overcoming challenges in the areas of agriculture and the development of agribusiness, oil and mining.

Bilateral cooperation with Japan began in 1988 as Emergency Aid, via UNICEF.

As part of the national reconstruction of Angola, Japan has been providing assistance, within the framework of international organizations, in segments such as food aid, as well as assistance to farmers and poverty.

Within the scope of economic cooperation, in recent years, knowledge and experiences from Japan have been used in the areas of rice cultivation development and professional training.
