The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, yesterday expressed his condolences to the British people on the death, Thursday, of Queen Elizabeth II, signing the book of condolences opened at the headquarters of the Diplomatic Mission of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. , in Luanda.
The Head of State, who went to the British Embassy accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, greeted Roger Stringer, the United Kingdom ambassador in office in the Angolan capital, on the spot.
In the condolence book, the President of the Republic wrote: “On behalf of the Angolan Executive and on my own, I offer to the people and Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland our deepest condolences on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II , which took place yesterday (Thursday, 8), in Scotland”.
According to João Lourenço, the seven-decade reign of Queen Elizabeth II has forever marked the British people, which she served, contributing to their edification as a thriving nation, whose progress serves as a reference for all peoples globally.
“This fateful event leaves a huge void around the world and marks the end of the era of a monarch who stood out for her dynamism and firmness, and who goes down in history leaving a legacy of stability and unity. At this painful time for the British people , I extend our condolences to the bereaved family”, he reiterated.
