Africa-Press – Angola. The North American President, Joe Biden, raised this Thursday, in Washington DC, the possibility of meeting with his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço.

According to Biden, who was responding to a question from the Angolan Public Television correspondent, he still does not know when this meeting could take place.

“I don’t know when, but I’m sure I’ll find it,” he replied.

When asked about a message to the people of Angola regarding the 48th anniversary of National Independence, which falls on the 11th, the President said that Angolans “must be very proud”.

“Very, very proud. And they will build an Angola that will become one of the leaders in Africa in the economy. We need to accelerate the economy”, concluded the North American President.

Angola and the USA signed, in 2010, a strategic partnership agreement, and cooperate in several areas, with emphasis on trade, finance, energy, manufacturing industry, security, health and justice.

Angola exports oil and diamonds to the United States and buys food, equipment for the oil sector and various machinery from this country.

Angola is the US’s third largest trading partner in Sub-Saharan Africa, mainly due to oil exports.
