The former President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, spoke on Tuesday (17), from Barcelona, Kingdom of Spain, where he is undergoing medical treatment, about the contradictory information regarding his health status, having underlined that the “only entity authorized to speak about it is the personal doctor who has been accompanying him for 16 years”.
José Eduardo dos Santos provided a specific clarification, in a note addressed to the press, due to multiple information, making it clear that he was referring to content that circulated, in recent days, through social networks, insinuating that his health had deteriorated.
“Due to the multiplicity of information, always contradictory, about my state of health, I inform all interested parties that the only entity authorized to speak on the subject is my personal physician, Dr. João Afonso, who has accompanied me to the over these 16 years, and in whom I have the utmost confidence as a professional”, he explains in the note made public yesterday.
Former President José Eduardo dos Santos stressed that Dr. João Afonso will continue to be the medical coordinator of the multidisciplinary team that guarantees his medical assistance. “I also reaffirm that he will continue to be the coordinating doctor of the multidisciplinary team that guarantees my medical assistance in Barcelona”, concluded José Eduardo dos Santos, in a note signed with his “own hand”.
