Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary of JURA in the province of Huambo, Arlindo Hombo Mangango, defended this Thursday the improvement of mechanisms for the protection and promotion of children’s rights, to reduce the rate of abandonment in this fringe of society.

According to the official, at a press conference, in reference to World Children’s Day, which is celebrated yesterday, based on the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, the family, society and the State, in general, must closely collaborate in order to ensure the protection of children against all forms of abandonment.

He said it was important to work together in the fight against acts of discrimination, oppression, exploitation and abusive exercise of authority in society and in the family, in particular, hence the need for the State to pay greater attention to the rights of the child in case of family disability.

He recalled that every child has, among others, the right to quality health services, education, access to drinking water and adequate food, the fulfillment of which depends largely on government authorities.

On the other hand, Arlindo Hombo Mangango urged the Government of the province of Huambo to solve the problems that afflict young people, mainly in terms of employment, as it is the largest fringe of society and the driving force for socioeconomic development, as the lack has led many of them to abandon their studies and opt for the practice of crime.
