Africa-Press – Angola. The organizations and personalities nominated for the 10th edition of the SIRIUS Awards were presented this Monday to the media, in an event guided by the president of the jury for this award, the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço.
For the Financial Sector category, the commercial banks BAI, BFA and Standard Bank were awarded, while in the Non-Financial Sector category the companies Casais, Omatapalo and Sonangol were awarded, and for Entrepreneurship institutions such as ASSC, Narisrec, Octosea and Pescaria Mormolo.
Azule Energy, Carrinho, Catoca, Omatapalo and Sonangol were nominated in the Social Responsibility category, while for Manager of the Year the choice fell on David Maciel from Carrinhos, Hélder Araújo from Grupo Casais and Luís Lélis from BAI.
For Digital/Technological Development, there is BAI, BNA and EMIS, and again BAI, Casais and Standard Bank in the Human Capital Development Programs category.
On the occasion, the president of the SIRIUS Awards jury, the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, praised the excellent work that has been carried out by national companies, in the most diverse sectors, increasing the difficulty of the body of jury in electing the nominees.
He considered that the country is in a phase of rapid expansion and, therefore, it is more urgent than ever to invest in critical areas for its development, such as education, innovation and other sectors of activity.
For Ana Dias Lourenço, Angola and its business fabric have been excellent in their ability to prosper, despite adversity.
He pointed out that entrepreneurs are opening paths for innovation in new sectors, which is why they need to be able to keep up with these changes and capitalize on opportunities.
“Therefore, in order to achieve a stronger and more competitive economy, it is imperative that all economic agents join forces, creating conditions of excellence to accelerate this process, for the sake of the sustainability of our country”, he asserted.
For his part, the president of Deloitte Angola, José Barata, highlighted that a profound transformation of the Angolan economy is underway, largely due to the continued effort to diversify economic activity, through structural and stimulating reforms in key sectors for the development of the country.
Therefore, he indicated that it is important to continue to distinguish the best business examples, a mission that the SIRIUS AWARDS have been fulfilling over the last decade.
For the SIRIUS AWARDS, more than 60 candidates were registered and chosen, three to four, in each of the seven categories to be awarded.
The award will result from a direct deliberation by the members of the jury.
Alongside these categories, there will be a special prize, to be announced only at the award gala, scheduled for April 11th, with the revelation of all the winners.
Under the motto “Lead the way, transform the future”, applications for the competition were open on the website www.premiosirius.com until February 2, 2024.
THE SIRIUS AWARD is an initiative promoted by Deloitte, which aims to distinguish good business management practices and projects with an impact on Angolan economic and social development.
Winners receive public recognition and a trophy.
The first edition of the SIRIUS Prize took place in 2011.
