Kimbumba river station will be requalified

Africa-Press – Angola. The Kimbumba river station, located in the municipality of Soyo, Zaire province, will benefit from rehabilitation works to improve its operating conditions.

To this end, the Ministry of Transport has advanced studies to improve this space, said this Monday to the press, the president of the Board of Directors of Empresa Portuária do Soyo – EP, Fernando Carlos de Almeida Dias, stressing that the current scenario This location is a concern for the transport sector.

Without providing further details of the work to be carried out, much less the time horizon for its completion, the manager explained that the aim is to provide dignity and comfort to the citizens who make this space their livelihood.

The Kimbumba river station is the place on the river channel of the Zaire River where rudimentary vessels carrying various goods on the Soyo/Cabinda maritime route and vice versa, as well as Soyo/DRC, are unloaded.

The space is devoid of docks and other infrastructure to support cabotage, a situation combined with the precariousness of the vessels used to transport goods from Soyo/Cabinda/DRC and vice versa.

The chairman of the Board of Directors of the Port Company of Soyo-EP was speaking at the end of an observation visit by his counterparts from Lobito, Porto Amboim, Cabinda, Luanda to the Kimbumba river station, Passenger and Cargo River Terminal and the Port of Soyo.

The presidents of the Angolan Ports Administration Councils, including executive and non-executive directors and technicians from the area, will participate, starting this Wednesday, in the 5th Round Table of the Angolan Ports Association (APANG), represented by its president, Manuel Nazareth.

The event, which will last two days, will address, among other issues, the issue of the regulatory framework for National Cabotage, as well as northern Cabotage, the current situation and prospects.
