Africa-Press – Angola. With a capacity to house 650 inmates, the Kindoki penitentiary establishment, in the municipality of Negage, Uíge province, only has 623 inmates, Wednesday.

Despite the lack of overcrowding, the head of the Penitentiary Assistance and Rehabilitation Department, Adolfo Manuel Cuba, said that the establishment needs an arts pavilion to carry out practices, after the inmates’ professional training has been completed.

He said that this year, 69 inmates were enrolled in plumbing, locksmithing, electricity and IT courses.

In addition to professional training, he said that the institution enrolled, this academic year, 100 inmates in I, II and III modules, a number lower than the 120 enrolled in the previous year.

Adolfo Manuel Cuba said that it is important to invest in the academic and professional training of prisoners, justifying that it helps in the process of reintegrating the citizen into society.
