Africa-Press – Angola. The “Kwenda” Social Cash Transfer Program will benefit more than 4,000 vulnerable households in the municipality of Quirima, Malanje province, according to the provincial director of the Social Support Fund (FAS), Gomes Golambole.

The opening of Kwenda in the municipality of Quirima, more than 300 kilometers south of Malanje, was guided by Governor Norberto dos Santos “Kwata Kanawa”.
Kwenda has already benefited 40 families in the Terra Nova neighbourhood, where, last week, the symbolic launch was made, with each household receiving 51,000 kwanzas, to be paid in two installments, within six months.

In Quirima, the Social Support Fund will disburse 208,130,000 kwanzas to more than 4,000 vulnerable families, according to Gomes Golambole.

The provincial director of the Social Support Fund recalled that, in Malanje, the pilot project was launched in the municipality of Kambundi-Katembo, where 7,850 inhabitants were assisted, followed by the municipality of Luquembo, with 9,500 households. 527 million kwanzas.

In the coming days, he added, Kwenda will benefit 18,000 families in the municipality of Calandula, where 480 million Kwanzas will be disbursed.

Gomes Golambole announced that, in Malanje province, the FAS will cover, this week, with 25,000 kwanzas, each of the 39,480 households, in the four aforementioned municipalities, included in the first phase.

The provincial director of the Social Support Fund said that the other municipalities in the province will be included in the program gradually and according to the poverty level of each region.

He added that Kwenda plans to cover all municipalities in the country.

Gomes Golambole guaranteed that more than 400 families are being cataloged in the municipality of Quirima, to be included in the productive inclusion program, since the 25,000 kwanzas are destined only to guarantee the issue of food security.

The provincial governor of Malanje, Norberto dos Santos “Kwata Kanawa”, present at the act, said that the Government is implementing the program to strengthen social action, which has a budget of US$420 million, of which US$320 are the result of a loan from the World Bank and 100 million dollars provided by the National Treasury.

He appealed to the population to apply the amounts received for the purposes for which they were defined, in this case food security, creation of small businesses, among other activities.

Along with Quirima, Governor Norberto dos Santos inaugurated the Integrated Center for Social Action in the municipality of Luquembo, whose works lasted nine months and were budgeted at 30 million kwanzas.

The centre, according to the provincial director of the Social Support Fund, will provide civil registration services, issuance of the Identity Card, combating domestic violence, youth associations, among others.
