Africa-Press – Angola. The campaign for the massive registration of taxis, motorcycle taxis and craft boats started on April 27th, in Luanda, in an initiative of the Executive, ends this Monday, 15th.
The initiative, coordinated by the municipal administrations, is aimed at taxi service providers, motorcycle taxis and owners of artisanal boats.
The aim is, among other goals, to integrate into the system, organize and control the activity of blue and white taxis, mini-buses and the so-called “tours of neighbourhoods”, with a view to better management of the offer.
Another purpose is to reduce the rate of crimes perpetrated by bad artisanal fishing, taxi and motorcycle taxi activities, in addition to increasing the number of formalized artisanal fishing activities, occasional taxis and motorcycle taxis.
The Government also seeks, with this initiative, to discourage illegality and increase the licensing of these media, through a simplified process.
During the campaign, whose brigades are coordinated by the Municipal Directorates for Transport, Traffic and Mobility, the issuance of the Professional License for motorcycle taxi drivers and the licensing of the motorcycle taxi vehicle were free of charge.
According to the Government’s planning, citizens who have Angolan nationality or are resident foreigners, of legal age and holders of a driving license or license were eligible for this campaign.
For the success of the campaign there was work with the associations at the municipal level and these, in turn, mobilized taxi drivers and motorcycle taxi drivers.
