Africa-Press – Angola. Literates in the province of Huambo defended, this Sunday, the improvement of the quality of works, from a graphic and content point of view, to boost the reading habit and, at the same time, promote entrepreneurial skills.
Literary agents and artists expressed this intention, the 1st edition of “Café de Letras”, in an initiative of the Young Literature Brigade (BJL) in the province of Huambo.
The class, in this field, highlighted the need to create mechanisms and professional qualities so that they can make significant gains, through the works they create, in order to compensate for the initiatives, as well as reinforcing the economic values investigated in the production of books.
They pointed out that the lack of literary critics is contributing to the low thematic and aesthetic quality of the works made available to readers.
They recognized that, despite this situation, the province of Huambo has shown some significant signs in terms of literary production in acceptable categories, although more dialogue, humility and boldness is needed on the part of those aspiring to literature, so that the works have higher quality.
Alexa Tomas, businesswoman and cultural agent, said it is necessary to “fine-tune the intellectual machines” to raise the quality of literary and artistic works, in order to bring economic experiences that allow creators to live off their creations and, consequently, promote employability.
He defended the need to develop literary and artistic production with a critical dimension, focusing on the sustainability of these works, so that they can be consumed and enjoyed in a geographical and borderless environment.
Academic Amilton da Gama advised the practice of self-criticism, for the positive impact of literary works, proposing solutions of a social and economic nature.
In his approach, the director of the Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports office in the province of Huambo, Jeremias Piedade Chissanga, called on literati to produce works with content that promotes criticism and open dialogue, with a view to achieving the quality sought in this intellectual field.
The director of the Legal and Exchange office at the José Eduardo dos Santos University (UJES) in Huambo, José Neto, recalled that literature has always played a decisive role in Angola’s independence, hence the need to work to improve the quality of works.
In turn, the delegate of the Press Agency in the province of Huambo, Aurelio Janeiro Sacalei Soi, said that literary and artistic producers must develop their projects with high intellectual humility, to improve the works.
The person in charge expressed willingness to collaborate with the class, from the point of view of disseminating literary and artistic values, for greater national and international visibility.
The “Café de Letras” brought together the old and new generation of literati who reflected on the professional quality in the field of literature, developed in the province of Huambo.
The 1st edition of “Café de Letras” was part of the celebrations of Africa Day, which takes place on the 25th of this month.
