Africa-Press – Angola. The Lobito Corridor offers several opportunities for the creation of startups focused on logistics, monitoring goods on digital commerce platforms, and related online solutions.
This viewpoint was recently defended by Salomão Pedro, advisor to the Board of Directors of the Port of Lobito.
According to the technician, speaking to Radio Lobito, this is an entrepreneurial opportunity that young people should embrace. On that occasion, he informed that the Benguela Railway is extending fiber optic cables to the municipality of Luau (eastern Moxico), which borders the Democratic Republic of Congo.
“There is a business opportunity in the movement of goods for those who want to invest in technology, such as electronic payments or digital tracking of goods, as is already done in the maritime sector,” he explained.
Salomão Mário also indicated that there is an opportunity in maritime terminals for those who want to create a company for the repair and washing of containers after transporting goods.
“In the Port of Lobito, we have not yet seen a company dedicated to this sector,” he stated.
The Lobito Corridor is establishing itself as one of the main axes for the circulation of goods, not only within the countries it crosses, but above all with the connection it establishes with the world market.
It is primarily driven by the Port of Lobito, whose multipurpose terminal (general cargo and containerized cargo) is operated by África Global Logística, and by the Benguela Railway, with its infrastructure (railway lines and workshops) operated by Lobito Atlantic Railway.
LAR currently transports ores from the DRC and Zambia to the Port of Lobito, which handles a high percentage of the volume of international trade and the entire sub-region.
