Africa-Press – Angola. The province of Luanda has the infrastructure conditions to host the Pre-Olympic senior women’s handball tournament, which can be played from 10 to 12 October next, at the Kilamba multipurpose pavilion.

The information was provided to the press, this Sunday, by the vice-president of the Angolan Handball Federation (FAAND), Domingos do Nascimento, at the end of the two-day inspection carried out by the CAHB in sports venues, hospitals and hotels.

“Angola meets the required conditions for this test. Now we will wait for the report of the Executive Committee of the CAHB, in the coming days”, he reiterated.

He stated that, even though the CAHB recommends some changes, it will provide response time without organizational constraints.

The inspector of the governing body of handball on the continent, Issa Sy, said that she had completed her work in three days in Angola and that she will make the final report to be delivered to the Executive Committee.

The African delegation visited the Luanda General Hospital, the Cardinal Dom Alexandre do Nascimento hospital complex and the Sagrada Esperança clinic.

On Saturday, on the first day of work, the delegation spent seven hours at the Kilamba pavilion, the Dream Space tourist complex, at the Victoria Garden, HCTA, Palmeiras and Béu Mar hotels, all south of Luanda.

Overall, seven hotel units around Kilamba’s Multipurpose pavilion, stage of the competition, which will include teams from Angola, Cameroon, Senegal and Congo, were inspected.

This is the third time that Angola will host the Pre-Olympic tournament, after the 2006 and 2015 editions, respectively, at the Cidadela pavilion.

Angola has already competed in the Olympic Games in Atlanta (1996), Sydney (2000), Athens (2004), Beijing (2008), London (2012), Rio de Janeiro (2006) and Tokyo (2020).
